The Little Man

The little man woke up early in the morning, as usual, at 5:20 am. He took care of his necessities, brushed his teeth, washed his face, and got dressed. Before leaving, he kissed his wife and children, grabbed his lunchbox, and headed to work. He worked in an underground diamond mine.
He clocked in and took the elevator almost a thousand meters down into the mine along with his fellow miners. His coworkers didn't notice him as he entered the lift. The little man arrived at his spot, picked up his pickaxe, and began digging. He was tucked away in a hole, and no one noticed him as he diligently worked, carefully examining every inch of the rock. That day, he unearthed a perfectly white raw diamond, the largest and most valuable ever found in this mine. All the miners gathered around the diamond, which was even bigger than the little man who still went unnoticed. After work hours, the little man handed the diamond to his boss, signed the handover, and collected his check before heading to the cashier to receive his bonus. The cashier didn't see him but simply paid him the money and stamped the receipt he signed.
Afterward, he went home. Night fell. His hardworking wife cooked him dinner, and after eating, they had their usual conversation. Sleepiness slowly closed their eyes. The children went to bed, and soon after, so did they.
